Hello.
My name is Monica Hinojos-Capes, a purpose-driven leader with 20+ years of creative experience in feminist, racial equity, diversity and inclusion, peace-building, and political initiatives.

My bio.
I’m a purpose-driven leader with over two decades of creative and strategic experience at the intersection of feminism, racial equity, peace-building, and political change. My work has always centered on building relationships, uplifting communities, and creating spaces where people and ideas can thrive.
Currently, I serve as Chief of Staff at We Are ALX, supporting efforts to advance Latino leadership and build generational wealth across Massachusetts. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with mission-aligned organizations and clients including Boston Impact Initiative, National Urban Fellows, Chica Project, Victim Rights Law Center, and WomenX.
Community and collaboration are core to how I lead. I serve as Board Chair of Calling All Crows, where we mobilize music fans in support of feminist movements. I previously spent a decade on the board of One Common Unity, using music, art, and peace education to break cycles of violence, and also contributed to the board of oneTILT, advancing organizational equity and inclusion. I currently sit on the DEI Advisory Council at Groton Hill Music Center.
Throughout my journey, I’ve been honored to receive recognitions such as the Next Generation Leader Fellowship from the Center for Whole Communities and the Environmental Cultural Heritage Fellowship through the QLF/Atlantic Center for the Environment, which included immersive learning across UNESCO sites in Central Europe. I also received a Volunteer Excellence Recognition Award (VERA) from Bpeace for co-leading a research project team focused on women’s entrepreneurship in El Salvador.
My background also includes political fundraising for national and local campaigns, including Hillary for America, Obama for America, Kamala Harris, Ayanna Pressley, and Latino Victory Fund. Across all of these roles, I’ve brought a collaborative mindset, inclusive lens, and entrepreneurial spirit to driving meaningful, equity-centered progress.
I hold an MBA from Simmons College School of Management and a Bachelor of Journalism from the University of Texas at Austin. Outside of work, I’m a certified Buti Yoga instructor committed to holistic well-being, and I live in Groton, Massachusetts with my husband, Ray.

What do people say about me.
